Based on the literature review of learning organization theory, this study examines the applicability of the learning organization model and its instrument “Dimensions of Learning Organization Questionnaire”, and finds that the learning organization in a Chinese context contains four dimensions: support individual learning for achieving collective vision, build communication and innovation mechanism, encourage team learning and collaboration, and advocate system thinking and strategic leadership. The results provide Chinese enterprises theoretical guidance to construct learning organizations. Then the paper further examines the learning organization's influence on the enterprise performance by developing a performance evaluation questionnaire based on Balanced Score Card. The results indicate that learning organization has positive influences on the enterprise performance. The study proves the necessity to construct learning organization for the purpose of improving the enterprise performance.
