Abstract:From the perspective of leadership traits, this study examined the relationship between the leader’s personality trait and the organizational citizenship behavior of employees through the multi-level analysis method. The research focuses on analyzing and testing the mechanism and boundary conditions of the influence of leaders’ prosocial orientation on the organizational citizenship behavior of employees based on the social identity theory. The study conducted a multi-sourced and time-lagged survey on 191 employees from53 work teams. The results show that the prosocial orientation of leadership is conducive to strengthening employees’ perceived insider status, while employees’ perceived insider status promotes organizational citizenship behavior. Employees’ perceived insider status plays a mediating role and employees’ traditionality will strengthen the mediation process.
