Analyzing the Influences of Perceptions of Organizational Politics on Organizational Citizenship Behavior of SOEs’ Employees: The Competitive Mediation of Impression Management Motivation

Abstract:Through 1 224 questionnaires of SOE employees, this research explored the mechanism that the POP impacts on employees` OCB through the competitive mediation of the assertive and defensive impression management motivation. It showed the perception of general political behavior is going along to get ahead effect on helping coworkers and taking initiative behavior through defensive impression management motivation; the perception of general political behavior and the perception of political pay and promotion policy have effect on helping coworkers and voicing. Results indicate various dimensions of organization political perception have different influencing mechanisms. Therefore, it suggests that it is better for SOEs managers to identify the role logic of the POP and the motivation of the different organizational citizenship behavior,and then to manage accordingly.
