Abstract: Using experience sampling method, 124 employees were followed up for 5 consecutive working days, and 620 daily data were obtained finally. Based on these data, this study examines the effect of four types of micro-breaks (relaxation activities, nutrition-intake activities, socialization activities, cognitive activities) on organizational citizenship behavior as well as the mediating effect of job satisfaction and the moderating effect of job demand. The results of multi-level modeling show that relaxation activities, nutrition-intake activities, and socialization activities can promote job satisfaction, which in turn facilitates organizational citizenship behavior. Job demands strengthen the association of relaxation activities, nutrition-intake activities, and socialization activities with job satisfaction and the indirect effects of relaxation activities, nutrition-intake activities, socialization activities on organizational citizenship behavior via job satisfaction. Under the high job demand, the above relationships are stronger. However, the relationship among cognitive activities, job satisfaction, and organizational citizenship behavior is not supported. The job demands on the relationship between cognitive activities and job satisfaction have no moderating effect.
