Abstract：In order to investigate the impetuses of knowledge management process (KMP) on lean tools effectiveness, this study first took knowledge acquisition, knowledge transformation and knowledge utilization as three dimensions of KMP based on the theory of “knowledge process”; then the Structural Equation Modeling was adopted to verify the mediation effect of KMP between lean tools and lean performance. The results show that lean tools have a positive effect on lean performance through the mediation of KMP, indicating the essential role of KMP in lean implementation. Therefore, project managers should strengthen the acquisition, transformation and utilization of knowledge in the process of implementing lean tools in order to fulfill lean tools great potential for improving lean performance.
