Abstract:This paper examined the characteristics and antecedents of shared leadership in service team based on three stores of S firm by using multiple-case study. The results showed that, compared with the program and innovation teams, due to the more ambiguous work boundaries between employees and leaders, the more symmetrical information between consumer and employees, and the more diverse needs of consumers, shared leadership really existed in the service team. In addition, the manifestations of shared leadership are basically the same as that of project/service teams, whereas the difference is that team members have stronger “discourse power” and “sense of ownership” in the service team. The vertical empowering leadership has a positively effect on shared leadership via positive team emotional involvement and positive cohesion respectively; vertical directive leadership has a negatively effect on shared leadership via team negative emotional involvement and negative cohesion.
