Abstract: Objective To investigate the quality of life of patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) undergoing amputation, to explore the association between the quality of life and disability acceptance and the mediating effect of coping style in the relationship between the quality of life and disability acceptance. Methods From May 2018 to March 2019, 217 diabetic foot amputees in two tertiary grade-A general hospitals in Zhengzhou, were surveyed by using the Diabetes Specific Quality Life Scale (DSQL), the Acceptance of Disability Scale (ADS) and the Medical Coping Mode Questionnaire scale (MCMQ). Results There was a significant positive correlation between the quality of life, disability acceptance (r=0.549, P<0.01), and face-coping(r=0.583, P<0.01); and a significant negative correlation between avoidance coping, and yield coping style (r=-0.451, -0.569, P<0.01). Coping style was a partial mediator between acceptance of disability and the quality of life, accounting 30.51% of the total effect. Conclusion The quality of life of patients with DFUs undergoing amputation in the study is relatively poor. Disability acceptance is an important factor affecting the quality of life, and coping style has a partially mediating effect between the quality of life and disability acceptance.More attention should be paid to disability acceptance of the patients. Target measures are beneficial for promoting positive response, behavior adjustment and the quality of life.

Key words: diabetic foot amputation, acceptance of disability, coping style, quality of life, mediating effect
