Abstract:Taking new ventures under the digital context as the research object, this study constructs a theoretical model to reveal the relationships among product innovation, opportunistic orientation, dysfunctional competition and new venture growth. Based on the empirical study of 350 new ventures samples in China, three main findings have been concluded. First, under the digital context, product innovation can help new ventures to achieve their sustainable growth goals, hence, digital technology empowers new ventures to efficiently integrate internal and external resources to better utilize the driving force of product innovation. Second, opportunistic orientation has a negative effect on the relationship between product innovation and new venture growth. Third, dysfunctional competition has a negative effect on the relationship between product innovation and new venture growth.
