Abstract:This study adopts a combination of qualitative and quantitative research, based on the compensatory consumption theory and existing research results, uses the grounded theory methods to conduct exploratory research on the structural dimensions of compensatory consumption behavior, analyzes the connotation and structure of compensatory consumption behavior, and on these basis, develops and tests the measurement scale by combining exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis methods. The results show that compensatory consumption behavior is a multidimensional construct with rich connotation, including five dimensions: symbolism, promotion, hedonic , emotional repair and stress resistance; The scale is composed of 5 factors and 26 items. Further analysis and tests show that the scale has good reliability and validity and it is an effective tool for measuring compensatory consumption behavior.
