Abstract：Based on the integration of existing research, this study guides the development of “bildung” constructs with reference to grounded theory attitudes towards to treat problems and data and its coding method. The research shows that the connotation of “bildung” is “self-development”, which refers to the process of internal spiritual transformation and self-consciousness development of the objects of bildung under the strategic guidance, stimulation, and nurtures of the subjects (organizations or individuals). The extension of “bildung” includes the following four aspects: the process of bildung (spiritual practice and gradual intangibility), the characteristics of bildung (internal and external integration and nurturing of humanities), the strategy of bildung (self-bildung and making the best use of the situation), and the result of bildung (overall value). In addition, it discusses the significance of “bildung” as a kind of leadership in explaining the phenomenon of organizational leadership in the context of China’s special cultural system.
