Abstract:Based on the self-determination theory, this study analyzes 306 paired samples and constructs an analytical framework of “Better men have more prison” from the perspectives of organization, leader, colleague, and self, to reveal its internal mechanism. The results show that: with the improvement of performance, high performers undertake more CCB; CCB has a suppressing effect between high performance and creativity, which leads to the decrease in creativity of high performers. LMXSC strengthens the suppressing effect of CCB. The research reveals that high performance can be either a “glory” or a “curse”, and the creativity of high performers can be jeopardized through the CCB pathway.
