Development of Nurse Perceived Professional Value Scale and Its Reliability and Validity

Abstract: Objective To develop a scale of perceived professional value for Chinese nurses. Methods The development of the scale of nurse perceived professional value was completed through theoretical framework, literature review, expert consultation, questionnaire survey and statistical analysis. Results The developed nurse perceived professional value scale consisted of 38 items in 7 dimensions, explaining 70.060% of the total variance.The Cronbach a coefficient, split-half reliability coefficient, test-retest reliability, and content validity index of the scale was 0.961,0.865, 0.951, and 0.868 respectively.Confirmatory factor analysis showed the scale had good construct validity. Conclusion The developed scale has a good reliability and validity, which might be used to evaluate nurses' perceived professional value and provide reference for targeted intervention.
