Status of Autonomous Learning Ability of College Nursing Students and Its Influence Factors:A 1,008-case Study

Abstract: Objective To understand the current situation and analyze the influencing factors of autonomous learning ability of college nursing students, and to provide reference for improving autonomous learning ability of nursing students. Methods With convenient sampling, a total of 1,008 nursing students from a medical college were selected and surveyed by using self-learning ability scale, critical thinking disposition inventory-Chinese version and general self-efficacy scale. The influencing factors were analyzed by multiple linear stepwise regression. Results The total score of autonomous learning ability of nursing students was 107.44±12.01. Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that grade, willing to engage in nursing for life, passion for the major of nursing, self-confidence, truth-seeking, open-mindedness, analyticity, systematicity, and general self-efficacy entered the regression equation(P<0.05), explaining 50.7% of the total variation. Conclusion Autonomous learning ability of nursing students is at mediate level and is affected by various factors. Enhancement of professional identity, cultivation of critical thinking and promotion of general self-efficacy are beneficial to the improvement of autonomous learning ability.
