Construction of evaluation index system for clinical practice ability of new nurses

Abstract: Objective To construct an evaluation index system of clinical practice ability of new nurses. Methods The consultation questionnaire was formed by literature review, research group discussion, and expert meeting. Two rounds of consultation were conducted by using Delphi method in 19 experts, and the analytic hierarchy process was used to determine the weight of the index. Results The positive coefficient of the two rounds of expert consultation was 100% and 95%; the authority coefficient 0.888 and 0.892, and the Kendall harmony coefficient 0.238 and 0.265 respectively. The final index system consisted of 5 first-level and 45 second-level indicators. The weight of first-level indicators of clinical nursing practice ability, health education ability, communication and cooperation ability, patient safety protection ability and professional quality was 0.210, 0.184, 0.196, 0.205, and 0.205 respectively. Conclusion The evaluation index system of new nurses’ clinical practice ability can be used as an effective evaluation tool for new nurses’ clinical practice ability.
