Quantitative Index System for Competency Evaluation of Nurses in Post of Integration of Medical Care and Health Service based on Double Helix Model

Abstract: Objective To establish a quantitative index system using double helix model to evaluate the competency of nurses in the post of integration of medical care and health service. Methods After literature review and semi-structure interview, based on competency model and the double helix model, we constructed the initial quantitative index system for the competency evaluation of nurses in the post of integration of medical care and health service. After two rounds of Delphi expert consultation, the index content was determined, then the index weight was determined by analytic hierarchy process (AHP). We also developed an evaluation form of nursing competency for nurses in the post of integration of medical care and health service and 60 nurses were surveyed with the form. Results The quantitative index system consisted of 5 first-level, 20 second-level and 64 third-level indicators. The weight coefficient of first-level indicators of professional attitude, professional quality, knowledge, skills and personality characteristics was 0.2710, 0.3878, 0.1152, 0.1649 and 0.0611 respectively. The differentiation of constructed quantitative index was 0.833; intra-group correlation coefficient 0.957; the Cronbach coefficient 0.966, and the cronbach coefficient of each item ranged from 0.723 to 0.968. The line chart showed consistent linear trend of the scoring of the 3 evaluators, indicating that the constructed quantitative index system had good consistency. Conclusion The quantitative index system based on double helix model for the competence of nurses in the post of integration of medical care and health service is scientific and reasonable, which provides basis for the cultivation, training, examination, selection and evaluation of nurses in the post of integration of medical care and health service, and also provide reference for designing curriculum for geriatric nursing talents.
