An Empirical Research on the Impact of Alliance Experience on Alliance-Portfolio Capability |

Abstract Using organizational learning theory, the causal relationships among alliance experience, alliance-experience depth, alliance-experience breadth and alliance-portfolio capability, and the moderation of learning routines are explored in the view of knowledge management, and such a mechanism model of cultivating alliance-portfolio capability is constructed. Concluding from hierarchy regression analysis based on the samples collected from 239 firms of strategic emerging industries, the empirical evidences show that alliance experience, alliance-experience depth, alliance-experience breadth are remarkably and positively related to alliance-portfolio capability; the positive relations between the three independent variables and alliance-portfolio capability are obviously enhanced due to moderation of learning routines; and the strongest moderating effect of learning routines is found on the relationship between alliance-experience breadth and alliance-portfolio capability, while the weakest moderating effect is found on the relationship between alliance-experience depth and alliance-portfolio capability.
