Multi-Case Study on How the Intercultural Absorptive Capacity Support Knowledge Transfer in International M&A

Abstract  In this paper, three cases are selected to describe and analyze the process of how intercultural absorptive capacity affects knowledge transfer in international M&A. The process of knowledge transfer in international M&A can be divided into three stages: the knowledge matching stage, the knowledge value evaluation stage and knowledge integration & new knowledge creation stage. The study found that the recognition ability, the digestion ability, the integration ability and the sustainable innovation ability of the intercultural absorptive capacity have different determinants. Each dimension of intercultural absorptive capacity has different influence on the three stages.
