Whether manufacturers can effectively acquire customers’ tacit knowledge is a key factor to successful implementation of postponement strategy. In this paper, the necessity to knowledge management in manufacturing system in implementing postponement strategy is discussed, the difference of manufacturing system management between the traditional manufacturing model and postponement strategy mode is proposed, and the operational mechanism of knowledge management in implementing postponement strategy is studied. Empirical analysis shows that acquiring customers’ tacit knowledge based on casebased reasoning plays an important role in manufacturing system implementing postponement strategy.
