Abstract:Based on the conservation of resources theory, this study explores the mechanism and boundary conditions of employee trait mindfulness on proactive behavior. By analyzing the data of 63 leaders and 222 employees at three time points, the results show that employee trait mindfulness has a positive predictive effect on proactive behavior. Ego depletion fully mediates the relationship between employee trait mindfulness and proactive behavior. In addition, humble leader behavior negatively moderates the relationship between ego depletion and proactive behavior, in other words, when leaders exhibit low humble behavior, ego depletion has a greater negative impact on proactive behavior, and the indirect effect of employee trait mindfulness on proactive behavior via ego depletion is significant.
