Abstract: Objective To translate the Self-regulation of Eating Questionnaire into Chinese, and to test its reliability and validity in Chinese preschool children. Methods After obtaining authorization from the original authors, the questionnaire was translated according to Brislin translation model and Delphi method was used to conduct cultural adaptation, and its reliability and validity were tested in 553 preschool children in two kindergartens in Yizheng City. Results The Chinese version of Self-regulation of Eating Questionnaire contained two dimensions and 9 items, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 52.170%. The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the indicators met the standard and the model fit well. The dimension of eating in the absence of hunger in the Chinese version of the Self-regulation of eating Questionnaire were positively correlated with food responsiveness dimension of the Children’s Eating Behavior Questionnaire (r=0.414, P<0.001), and eating compensation dimension was positively correlated with satiety responsiveness dimension (r=0.571, P<0.001). Content validity index of the questionnaire was 0.983; Cronbach α coefficient of the total questionnaire 0.759, and the Cronbach α coefficient of the two factors 0.675 and 0.755, respectively. Conclusion The Chinese version of Self-regulation of Eating Questionnaire has good reliability and validity in preschool children and can be used as a tool to assess the eating self-regulation ability of preschool children in China.
