Abstract: Objective To explore the application effect of health education based on dialectical nursing combined with protection motivation theory in health management of hyperuricemia. Methods A total of 120 patients with hyperuricemia admitted to Shenzhen Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from May 2020 to June 2022 were randomly divided into dialectical nursing group, protection motivation theory group, and the combined group, with 40 patients in each group. All patients received routine care for hyperuricemia, while those in dialectical nursing group received health education based on dialectical nursing; those in protection motivation theory group received health education based on protection motivation theory, and those the combined group received health education based on the combination of both approaches. The disease awareness level, incidence of gouty arthritis, and metabolic indicators such as blood uric acid level were compared among the three groups at admission and 6 months after intervention. Results After 6 months of intervention, the disease awareness level, incidence of gouty arthritis, and metabolic indicators of the three groups of patients with hyperuricemia were improved, with statistical significance (P<0.05). The combined group showed better outcomes than the other two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion Dialectical nursing combined with protection motivation theory can effectively prevent and improve hyperuricemia and reduce the incidence of gouty arthritis.
