Abstract: Objective To conduct a systematic review of patients' knowledge-attitude-practice in participating in patient safety, and provide basis for promoting patients' participation in patients' safety management. Methods We searched PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang Database, VIP Database and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database for qualitative research on patients' knowledge-attitude-practice in participating in patients' safety. The retrieval time was from the inception of the database to August 2019. After evaluating the quality of literature using the Australian Evidence-based Health Care Center (JBI-QARI, 2017 edition) qualitative research quality evaluation criteria, meta-integration was carried out by using aggregative integration method, and the results were compared, analyzed, summarized, interpreted and synthesized. Results Twelve studies were included, and 42 results were extracted. Eight categories were summarized and integrated into three results including cognitive attitudes towards patients' participation, barriers to patients' participation, and expectations of patients' needs for participation. Conclusion Medical institutions and staffs should attach great importance to the organizational and practical management of patients' participation in patients' safety, and guide patients to improve their participation cognition, belief and action from different perspectives, so as to ensure patients' safety and medical safety.

Key words: patients' participation in patients' safety, knowledge-attitude-practice, qualitative research, systematic review
