Abstract: Objective To investigate the current situation of fear of cancer recurrence in young and middle-aged patients with cervical cancer after surgery, and to analyze its influencing factors. Methods A total of 228 middle-aged and young patients with cervical cancer after surgery were selected from May 2023 to September 2023 in Gynecology Oncology Department of a tertiary grade-A hospital in Zhengzhou. The General Information Questionnaire, Simplified Fear of Disease Progression Scale, Simplified Disease Perception Questionnaire and the second version of Acceptance and Action Questionnaire were used to conduct an investigation. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the factors affecting the fear of cancer recurrence in young and middle-aged cervical cancer patients after surgery. Results The total score of fear of cancer recurrence was 35.39±5.75. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, disease stage, disease perception and empirical avoidance entered the regression equation (P<0.05), accounting for 37.1% of the total variance. Conclusion In this group, the fear of cancer recurrence in young and middle-aged patients after cervical cancer surgery is at a medium and low level, and age, pathological stage, disease perception and empirical avoidance are the main influencing factors for the fear of cancer recurrence, suggesting that medical staff should pay attention to younger patients and those with advanced cervical cancer. Multi-faceted social and emotional support, group psychological intervention, patients' emotional and psychological state, disease-related knowledge education, patients' negative disease perception, and empirical avoidance coping should be taken into consideration.

Key words: young and middle-aged, cervical cancer patient, fear of cancer recurrence, disease perception, empirical avoidance
