Abstract: Objective To construct an Actor-Partner Interdependence Mediation Model of parental dyadic coping in the effect of psychological resilience on parenting stress among parents of children aged 0 to 6 years, and to explore the effects of father's and mother's psychological resilience on their own parenting stress, and the mediating roles of their own and spouses' dyadic coping. Methods A convenience sampling method was used to select 604 pairs of parents of children aged 0 to 6 years from different communities in Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangsu Province, and Shanghai as the study subjects, and the general information questionnaire, the Chinese version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, the Dyadie Coping Inventory, and the Chinese version of the Parenting Stress Index-Short Form were used to conduct the survey. Results The differences between fathers' and mothers' psychological resilience score, fathers' and mothers' dyadic coping score, and fathers' and mothers' parenting stress score were statistically significant (P<0.05). Parenting stress in fathers was negatively correlated with fathers' psychological resilience and dyadic coping, and mothers' psychological resilience and dyadic coping (r= -0.365, -0.299, -0.119, -0.146, all P<0.05), and parenting stress in mothers was negatively correlated with mothers' psychological resilience and dyadic coping, and fathers' psychological resilience and dyadic coping (r= -0.364, -0.347, -0.201, -0.209, all P<0.05). In terms of subject effects, mothers' dyadic coping played a partial mediating role in the influence of their own psychological resilience on parenting stress (effect size: -0.085, accounting for 24.43% of the total effect size, P<0.05), and fathers' dyadic coping played a partial mediating role in the influence of their own psychological resilience on parenting stress (effect size: -0.084, accounting for 24.42% of the total effect size, P<0.05). Moreover, the dyadic coping of mothers fully mediated the effect of fathers' psychological resilience on mothers' parenting stress (effect size: -0.017, P<0.05), and fathers' dyadic coping fully mediated the effect of mothers' psychological resilience on fathers' parenting stress regarding object effect (effect size: -0.017, P<0.05). Conclusion This study suggests that it is necessary to consider not only the role of individual psychological resilience, but also the mediating role that individual's dyadic coping plays in the effects of individual's and his/her spouse's psychological resilience on individual parenting stress in future clinical research to improve parenting stress among parents of children aged 0 to 6 years, respectively.
