Construction of evaluation index system of chronic disease nursing competency for elderly people in communities

Abstract: Objective To determine the weight of evaluation indicators at all levels of chronic disease nursing competency for elderly people in the communities, and to construct a nursing competency evaluation system. Methods The collection of evaluation indicators of chronic disease nursing competency for elderly people in the communities was preliminarily formulated by literature review, content analysis of policy and thematic group discussion. Delphi method was used to construct the index entries of each evaluation index; analytic hierarchy process was used to construct the competency evaluation model, and the weight of indexes at each level was determined. Results The evaluation index system of chronic disease nursing competency for elderly people in the communities consisted of 3 first-level, 11 second-level and 53 third-level indicators, and the indicators at all levels passed the consistency test. Conclusion The evaluation index system of chronic disease nursing competency for elderly people in the communities provides a measurement tool for community nursing workers or managers.
