Abstract: Objective To investigate the current status of parental guilt in parents of children with cancer and analyze its influencing factors. Methods From November 2021 to April 2022, 220 parents of children with cancer from a tertiary grade-A hospital in Shandong Province were selected by convenience sampling method and they were surveyed by using general information questionnaire, Parental Guilt Scale, Psychological Adaptation Scale, the Chinese Perceived Stress Scale And Perceived Social Support Scale. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of parental guilt in parents of children with cancer. Results The total score of parental guilt of parents of children with cancer was 51.37±9.17. Multiple regression analysis showed that the number of children, health status during pregnancy, psychological adaptation and perceived stress entered the regression equation (P<0.01), which explained 47.9% of the total variation of parental guilt of parents of children with cancer. Conclusion The parental guilt of parents of children with cancer is at a medium or above level. The number of children, health status during pregnancy, psychological adaptation and perceived stress are the main influencing factors of parental guilt. Psychological counseling and stress coping are conducive to reducing parental guilt of parents of children with cancer.

Key words: parents of children with cancer, parental guilt, psychological adaptation, perceived stress, perceived social support
