Construction of Core Competency Index System for Midwifery Students of Higher Vocational Education

Abstract: Objective To construct the core competency index system of midwifery students of higher vocational education, and to provide reference for the training of midwifery students of higher vocational education. Methods Through literature review, semi-structured interviews,Delphi method and precedence chart method,the framework of the core competency index system of midwifery students of higher vocational education was developed and the weight value of each index was identified. Results Totally 23 experts of midwifery nursing participated in two rounds of consultation. The recovery rate for the two rounds of expert consultation was 100%. The familiarity coefficient of experts was 0.828 and 0.836, the judgment coefficient 0.903 and 0.926, the authority coefficient 0.866 and 0.881 respectively. The Kendall Harmony Coefficient of the first and second round of inquiry was 0.109 and 0.112 respectively (P<0.05). Six first-level and 56 second-level indicators were obtained, among which the first-level indicators included professionalism, general health care, pregnancy health care, childbirth care, postpartum care, and neonatal care. Conclusion The core competency index system of midwifery students of higher vocational education constructed in this study is comprehensive and scientific, which can provide reference for the training of domestic higher vocational nursing students.
