Abstract: Objective To explore the current status of attitude toward hospice care of ICU nurses and its influence factors and to provide reference for strategies of promoting the attitude. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among 165 ICU nurses in Dalian by using general information questionnaire, Frommelt Attitudes Toward Care of the Dying Scale Form B(FATCOD-B), Chinese Version of Templer's Death Anxiety Scale(CT-DAS) and Interpersonal Response Index-C(IRI-C). Multiple linear regression was performed to analyze the influence factors. Results The total score of attitude toward hospice care was 97.28±10.36 and its main influence factors were length of working, type of establishment, personal experience, death anxiety and empathy ability(P<0.05). Conclusion The level of attitude toward hospice care of ICU nurses remains low and the attitude is influenced by length of working, with establishement or not, personal experience, death anxiety and empathy ability. Appropriate strategies to improve the attitudes toward hospice care should be formulated for nurses with long length of service, those without establishment; those without experiencing dying; those with poor empathy ability and those with severe death anxiety.
