Abstract The competitiveness and development of an industry is heavily influenced by technology standards and dominant designs. Implementation of standardization is a strategic option for enterprises to master the power of initiative. Building on resource based theory and social network theory, this paper aims to analyze the impact of network structure and resource endowment on the enterprises' influence on standardization, which is based on network-level data, firm-level data and standard output data of Chinese Automobile Industry. The results show that political ties have more effect than business ties on the enterprises' influence on standardization. And the results indicated a negative impact of density for standardization, and a positive impact of reach efficiency on standardization. The results have devoted to the theory of social network and standardization activities, and have managerial implications on how to strengthen an enterprise's standardization ability.
