Abstract:Online medical teams in the online healthcare community in essence belong to one kind of virtual teams, and collective action dilemmas exist in them. From the perspective of Collective Action Theory, a moderated cross-level model of doctors’ team identity, team size and individual service performance was proposed and validated, based on the basic information and service data of 865 online medical teams and 3 170 members in the online healthcare community. Results show that both team leadership and multiple-team membership identities have positive impacts on the individual performance of doctors, and the effect of team size on individual performance is positive U-shaped, which weakens the effect of multi-team membership identity on individual performance. In practice, if doctors want to improve individual service performance online, developing the identity of team leader and multiple-team membership can be a feasible strategy. Meanwhile, adjusting team size is also conducive to improving performance.
