When the East Meets the West-Exploration of Yan Xijun’s Rational and Harmonious Management Thoughts from the Perspective of Management Transplantation and Innovation

Abstract:Focusing on the common issues of standardization and internationalization which enterprises confront, this study takes the management thoughts of Yan Xijun who in charge of Tasly Group as research subject. Based on theoretical sampling, this study explores and discusses the evolution of Yan Xijun’s rational and harmonious management thoughts and its underlying mechanism based on his management practices and experiences. By analysis, this study concludes that the formation of Yan Xijun’s rational and harmonious management thoughts depends on the genetic route, which is based on the eastern harmonious spirit, the selective route, which is based on the western rational spirit, and two core driving elements of integrated medicine and components research. Furthermore, this paper constructs the evolution and mechanism model of Yan Xijun’s rational and harmonious management thoughts. The research found that: (1) The great health is the inner driving force of the dimensions scaled of Chinese medicine industry, while standardization can not only shape the industry chain composition, but also can be the basis and guarantee of the Chinese medicine market cultivation in countrywide, or even worldwide level. Yan Xijun’s rational and harmonious management thoughts mainly include two core elements: a general health concept and standardization idea; (2) Components research is the core driving element of Chinese medicine enterprises to realize inward management transplantation for overseas. It creates a virtuous circle for theoretical support and research innovation; (3) Integrated medicine is the core driving element of traditional Chinese medicine companies to overcome cultural distances and achieve export-oriented management transplantation, and forms a virtuous circle of mutual promotion between theoretical guidance and practical feedback with the innovation of Chinese medicine business model; (4) The inward management transplantation and the outward management transplantation can coexist and promote each other in the enterprise.
