Abstract:The authors review the corporate social responsibility (CSR) literature based on 312 empirical papers published in journals from CSSCI and SSCI database authored by researchers from mainland China during 2000-2015. Those articles are analyzed in terms of annual number of papers, research topics and research levels, as well as methods of data collection. It reveals a typical research characteristics, namely the dominated multidisciplinary study in CSR with finance, strategy, marketing, corporate governance, human resource, organizational behavior and so on. The research frameworks applied in those papers are articulated, including theoretical foundations and four types of variables (i.e., antecedents, outcomes, mediators and moderators). Accordingly, some limitations of those papers are discussed, a possible research agenda for the future is proposed from the view of Chinese context and worldwide academy.
