Abstract:Organizational momentum is a key concept in the process of organizational change. Based on a review of previous studies, this study summarizes three perspectives which researchers used to define momentum: phenomenon application perspective, systematic configuration perspective, and strategic action perspective. This study compares divergence of research methods and conclusions of momentum studies under three different perspectives. Finally some suggestions and prospects for future studies on organizational momentum are proposed, aiming at enhancing the understanding of momentum more clearly and more indigenously, by which some efficient guidance to management practice can be provided.
