Localization of type 2 diabetes distress assessment system and its reliability and validity

Abstract: Objective To translate the English version of the type 2 diabetes distress assessment system (T2-DDAS) into Chinese and to test its reliability and validity. Methods Translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the T2-DDAS was performed based on the Brislin model. Convenience sampling was used to select 410 patients with type 2 diabetes from October 2023 to January 2024 and they were investigated to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of T2-DDAS. Results The content validity index of the Chinese version of T2-DDAS was 0.98. The exploratory factor analysis extracted seven common factors with a cumulative variance contribution of 86.63%. Validation factor analysis showed that χ2/df=2.29, RMSEA=0.08, CFI=0.94, TLI=0.92, IFI=0.94, GFI=0.86, NFI=0.89. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the core scale was 0.91, and the Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the dimensions of the source scale ranged from 0.81 to 0.89. The re-test reliability coefficient of the core scale was 0.90, and the re-test reliability of the dimensions of the source scale ranged from 0.88 to 0.94. Conclusion The Chinese version of T2-DDAS has good reliability and validity, and it can be used as an assessment tool to measure the level of psychological distress of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in China.
