Abstract: Objective To investigate the status quo of medical narrative ability among nursing postgraduates, and to analyze its influencing factors. Methods From November 2021 to October 2022, 237 nursing postgraduates from 3 comprehensive institutions of higher learning in Jiangxi Province and Fujian Province were conveniently sampled and investigated by using general information questionnaire, Medical Narrative Ability Scale and Humanistic Care Quality Scale. Results The total score of medical narrative ability of nursing postgraduates was 141.58±12.61. Multiple linear regression showed that grade, familiarity with narrative medicine or narrative nursing, and humanistic care quality entered the regression equation (P<0.01), accounting for 36.3% of the total variation. Conclusion The medical narrative ability of nursing postgraduates is at a low level, and the main influencing factors of medical narrative ability include grade, familiarity with narrative medicine or narrative nursing, and humanistic care quality. Nursing educators should strengthen the education and training of narrative medicine or narrative nursing for nursing postgraduates from multiple perspectives to improve their medical narrative ability.

Key words: narrative medicine, narrative nursing, nursing postgraduate, medical narrative ability, humanistic care quality
