Abstract: Objective To provide a scientific basis for home environment renovation by assessing the cognitive status and needs of elderly patients with stroke, and to promote the good living conditions of elderly patients with chronic diseases. Methods The phenomenological research method of qualitative research was used to conduct in-depth interviews in 12 elderly stroke patients with semi-structured interviews. The Colaizzi analysis was used to analyze, summarize, refine and extract topics. Results After the analysis of the interview structure, there were two major problems. One was insufficient understanding of the effect of home environment renovation on patients' good living conditions, insufficient motivation for the home environment renovation, and obstacles and difficulties such as their children's opinions and the amount of money during the renovation of the home environment. Another one was a high demand for basic security facilities renovation and green and healthy living environment. Conclusion The elderly stroke patients lack correct understanding of the effects of home environment renovation and living conditionsand they also need scientific guidance, social support and government attention. Mobile and internet-based home environment renovation cloud platform will benefit their home environment renovation.
