Abstract: Objective To understand the research on and the development of ICU diary at home and abroad, and provide advice for its clinical application. Methods We searched the Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection database and CNKI from the inception to October 15, 2021 for literature on ICU diary, and CiteSpace was used to analyze the literature in terms of annual number of articles, country, institution, keywords and reference. Results A total of 140 articles in WOS and 29 in CNKI were found, and the number of articles increased year by year. The top five publication countries were the United States, Denmark, The United Kingdom, Sweden and Australia. The institutions with the largest number of publication were the University of Copenhagen and the Rigshospitalet Hospital; Beijing and Hunan topped the list of publication in China, and The School of Nursing of Peking Union Medical College and Xiangya School of Nursing of Central South University were the top two of publication. Memory reconstruction, psychological health of patients and their relatives, experience of using diary, follow-up and rehabilitation were the research hotpots of ICU diary. Conclusion China is in its infancy in the research on ICU diary. Focus on the hotspots of international ICU diary, more cooperation between domestic and international institutions, and improvement of diary intervention models would promote the health of critically ill patients and their families.
