Abstract  The study illustrates the concept of business model by triangulating with three scientific philosophies-positivism, interpretivism, and pragmatism. After summarizing and applying positivism, interpretivism, and pragmatism to reveal and compare different meanings of business model, we discuss how to explore the nature of business model by combining the three philosophical perspectives. It is suggested that when applying complex concepts such as business model different philosophical views should be integrated so as to obtain more complete, holistic, and useful understanding and cognition.
Key words business model      philosophical triangulation      positivism      interpretivism      pragmatism
