Abstract The Management Science Department has conducted a performance evaluation on the General Projects, the Youth Science Fund Projects, and the Regional Science Fund Projects which have been approved and sponsored between 1992 and 2010. The result shows that over 92% of all the sponsored projects have been completed as planned. In addition, through yearly analysis, it is found that as the amount of sponsorship fees grows up, the ratio of outstanding project keeps increasing as well and the quality of outcomes of sponsored projects gets better. Further analysis on the projects’ principal investigators suggest that female investigators or those with full professorship are more likely to achieve high quality research outcomes. These findings indicate that it should keep providing stronger sponsorship to management science projects, giving more supports to female and young scholars and also enhance the administration of researchers, such as post-doctoral fellows.
