Abstract From the perspective of information processing, using hierarchical linear modeling, this study shows that openness to experience and team cohesion are positively associated with employee creativity in R&D teams, and that individual knowledge sharing plays a mediating role in the above relationships. It also finds out an effect of moderated mediation, that is, compared to teams with high cohesion, for teams with low cohesion, individual knowledge sharing plays a stronger mediating effect on the relationship between openness to experience and employee creativity. The study deepens the understanding of how personal traits and team level factors affect employee creativity, and offers some suggestions on team management to enhance employee creativity.
