Abstract Based on the event system theory and taking the nearly 40 years of entrepreneurial experience of New Hope Group as a longitudinal case study, the evolutionary path of green agricultural entrepreneurial ecosystems (GAEEs) was explored. The results show that at the start-up stage of GAEEs, the key events originate from the environmental layer, affected by corporate relationship capital. The main influence occurs within the organization, and the degree of vertical diffusion is strong. The entrepreneurial individuals expand to form the entrepreneurial population. At the growth stage, the key events originate from the organizational layer, affected by corporate cognitive capital. The main influence is concentrated within the organization and the industry, with strong horizontal and vertical diffusion. The entrepreneurial population grows into the entrepreneurial community. At the mature stage, the key events originate from the industry level, affected by corporate structure capital. The two poles of the main influence spread to the organizational layer and the environmental layer, with strong horizontal and vertical diffusion and forming a stable green agricultural entrepreneurial ecosystem.
