Abstract Based on the case study of TBEA, this study takes the key milestones cases of enterprise development as the analysis unit to explore the question construct of institutional opportunity capture internal mechanism of the private enterprises in the context of transitional economy. The results show that: (1)Institutional change has driven two types of institutional opportunities: exploratory institutional opportunity and exploitatory institutional opportunities, enterprises capture opportunities for domestic and foreign exploratory institutional opportunities respectively through resource reconstruction and reflexive construction mechanisms; and enterprises capture opportunities for domestic and foreign exploitatory institutional opportunities respectively through resource combination and identity reconfiguration mechanisms; (2) For private enterprises, The differences between opportunity types and embedded situations lead to the heterogeneity of their capture mechanisms;(3) different field characteristics have different emphasis on capture mechanism: domestic opportunity capture focuses on “resource” and pursues the complementarity of national needs and development consistency; foreign opportunity capture focuses on “identity” and provides solutions for host country support.
