Abstract Based on social identification theory, this study created a theoretical model to investigate how LLX influenced team creativity. What’s more, the mediating role of leadership group prototypicality and the moderating effect of intergroup competition were also explored. By using social statistics analysis method such as SPSS and analyzing the data from 62 teams including 308 employees, this study obtained the following results. First, LLX has a positive effect on team creativity. Second, leader group prototypicality impacts team creativity positively, and the relationship between LLX and team creativity is mediated by it. Third, intergroup competition positively moderates the positive correlation between LLX and leader group prototypicality. Finally, intergroup competition moderates the mediated relationship between LLX and team creativity.
