Abstract:Career plateau is the employees’ perceptions for future career development. It emphasizes how employees perceive, evaluate and respond to current work situations. This paper reviews the concept, theoretical basis, dimensions and measurements of career plateau, and then discusses its antecedents from individual and organization aspects. Subsequently, this paper discusses the effects of career plateau on job stress, work motivation, attitudes and performance. Finally, the future research directions are discussed.
