Abstract：Based on regional division of innovative labor and from the perspective of technology transaction, we conducted a research on inter-regional technology similarity. We analyzed the mechanism of technology transaction impact on inter-regional technology similarity among different types of transactions, and made empirical test with 30 provinces and municipalities of China as samples. Under the control of the regional R&D difference, foreign direct investment (FDI) difference, as well as other factors of technology flow and inter-regional technical similarity of the previous periods, the results indicated that technology transaction among regions with high technology knowledge has an significant U-shaped relationship with inter-regional technology similarity. Furthermore, either areas with low technology knowledge stocks selling their technologies to areas with high ones or technology transactions among areas with low ones has no significant impact on inter-regional technological similarity.
