Abstract:This paper aims at investigating how network position, technology diversity influence the standard setting through randomeffect negative binomial regression models, based on the panel data of patents and standards from all 3800 enterprises in cooperative R&D network between 1985 and 2010 in the automobile industry. The study findings are: There is positive relationship between network position (degree centrality, the richness of the structural holes) and the influence on the standard setting. The higher the technology diversity is, the more influential on standard setting the enterprises will be. The mediating effect of technology diversity is recognized on the relationship between network position and the influence on the standard setting.
