Abstract: Objective To study the effect of question prompt list in breast cancer patients during perioperative period. Methods Convenience sampling was adopted to select 85 patients with breast cancer who had undergone surgery in the breast surgery department of a tertiary grade-A hospital in Tianjin from August to December 2023 as the research subjects. They were divided into intervention and control group according to the time of admission. The control group received routine care, while the intervention group was provided with a question prompt checklist in addition to routine care. The Decision Conflict Scale, The Chinese version of Short-Form Survivor Unmet Needs Survey, and Participation in Medical Decision-making Scale were used to compare the intervention effect between the two groups. Results Forty cases in the control group and thirty-seven cases in the intervention group completed the study. The total score of Decision Conflict Scale (t=2.145,P<0.05)and the Chinese version of Short-Form Survivor Unmet Needs Survey (t=2.514, P<0.05) in the intervention group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant. The total score of the Participation in Medical Decision-making Scale in the intervention group was higher than that of the control group, indicating statistically significance(t=2.765,P<0.05). Conclusion The application of the question prompt list can enhance patients' enthusiasm for asking questions, improve the quality of doctor-patient communication, meet patients' information needs, reduce decision-making conflicts, improve medical decision-making participation ability, and ultimately improve patients' satisfaction with medical decision-making participation.
