Influence of Simulation-based Teaching Based on Standardized Patients on Non-technical Skills of Nursing Undergraduates

Abstract: Objective To explore the influence of simulation-based teaching based on standardized patients on non-technical skills of nursing undergraduates.Methods A total of 107 nursing undergraduates in grade 2015 were selected and divided into experimental group (n=54) and control group (n=53). In practice teaching of Internal Medicine Nursing, traditional teaching method was adopted in the control group, and simulation-based teaching method based on standardized patients in the experimental group. After the completion of teaching, non-technical skills of nursing students in the two groups were compared by using a self-designed teaching effect questionnaire. Results The total score of non-technical skills and the score of dimensions such as humanistic care, communication skills, teamwork, clinical thinking ability, and clinical problem-making ability in the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group and the difference showed satistical significance (P<0.001). Conclusion The effect of simulation-based teaching method based on standardized patients is superior to that of traditional teaching method in practice teaching of Internal Medicine Nursing and it is beneficial to improving non-technical skills of nursing students.
