Abstract: Objective To translate the Mini Symptom Screening in Pediatrics Tool (Mini-SSPedi) from English to Chinese, and to test its reliability and validity in cancer children aged 4~7. Methods With the authorization of the original authors, the Chinese version of Mini-SSPedi was formed by using Brislin translation model through translation,back-translation,cross-cultural adaptation and pilot test. From December 2022 to May 2023, 210 children with cancer aged 4~7 from 2 tertiary grade-A hospitals in Guangzhou were selected by convenience sampling for questionnaire survey to test the reliability and validity. Results The Chinese version of Mini-SSPedi was a unidimensional scale, including 15 items of common symptoms and one open question. The item-level content validity index and averaging scale-level content validity index of the Chinese version of Mini-SSPedi were 1.000. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the model fitted well. The Cronbach's α coefficient of the Chinese version of Mini-SSPedi was 0.843,and the split-half reliability 0.829. Conclusion The Chinese version of Mini-SSPedi has good reliability and validity in cancer children, and can be used as a tool to assess symptom distress in cancer children aged 4~7.
