Sense of Benefit of Caregivers of in-home Dementia patients: A Qualitative Research

Abstract: Objective To investigate the components of sense of benefit of caregivers of in-home dementia patients and to provide reference for the development of measurement tool and the elevation of sense of benefit. Methods A semi-structure interview was conducted among fourteen caregivers of in-home dementia patients from June to August 2021 and the data were analyzed using Colaizzi's method of phenomenological analysis. Results Three themes were extracted: effective caring skills, adjustment of concepts and behavior change and development of good family relationship. Conclusion Caregivers have sense of benefit during the process of caregiving. More supporting measures, such as caregiving training, targeted caregiving service, health education for caregiving, sodality for caregivers are conducive to the elevation of sense of benefit.
